About Algo Legal

• Tired of hearing about something great only after it’s over?
• Looking for something to do and not sure where to look?
• Don’t feel like digging through profile after profile, site after site, just to find something happening today?
• New around here, with no one to tip you off yet, and never sure what’s going on?

Find it right now at algo.legal.

Every event links back to the original post — the source is always the organizers themselves. Because everything is read automatically, a date or time can come out wrong: always double-check at the source before you head out. Spotted a mistake? Use “Suggest an edit” on the event itself.

There’s an app too: on Google Play (Android) and the App Store (iPhone).

Get in touch: bc@algo.legal · @algoemfloripa on Instagram.

Event images and text belong to the profiles that posted them. Any venue or promoter that would rather not be listed here can just message us on Instagram and we’ll take it down.

In Brazilian Portuguese, “algo legal” means “something cool”.

Privacy

This is a courtesy translation. If the two ever differ, the Portuguese version is the one that applies.

The short version: this site doesn’t know who you are — and it’s built so it never needs to.

No sign-up, no login, no tracking cookies, and we don’t sell or share any data — there’d be nothing to sell anyway. Here are the details, one by one:

Saved events

When you save an event, your browser creates a random code (something like a1b2c3…) that says nothing about you — it doesn’t include your name, email or phone number, because we never ask for them. That code and your list of saved events stay in your browser; the server only stores “code X saved event Y,” which is how we count how many people saved each event. If you clear your browser data, your saved events go with it — we can’t recover them, precisely because we don’t know they were yours.

On this device

Your browser also keeps the language and appearance you chose in Preferences, the events you’ve opened and when your last visit was — that’s what makes the "new" label work. All of it stays on your device only, nothing goes to the server, and Preferences (in the menu and the footer) has a button that erases it all at once.

Your location

The Map tab asks your browser for your location, and that location never leaves your device: distances are worked out right in the browser, against the list of events it has already downloaded. None of your coordinates are sent at that point.

The one exception is when you choose to send it: when you suggest a location for an event, the “I’m here now” button puts the map pin where you are, and that point is sent to us along with your suggestion — it’s the answer you’re submitting. If you drag the pin instead, what gets sent is the spot you marked, not where you are.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without profiling: we can tell that a page was viewed, not who viewed it.

When the page runs into an error in your browser, the browser tells our server the error message, the page you were on and the type of browser — so we can fix it. No name, no ID, nothing that says who you are goes with it, and the record is gone within a week. We also count, without keeping who it came from, how many times each alternative address of the site is used and how many clicks the Chat on Telegram button gets on each event.

IP address

Like any website, the server sees the IP address of whoever visits it. We use it only to curb abuse (someone flooding the form with requests) — and even then the IP is scrambled before it becomes a counter, so what’s stored can’t be turned back into an address. The site runs on Cloudflare’s infrastructure, which handles traffic like any hosting provider.

Third-party services

Two things on the page come from elsewhere, and your browser fetches them directly — which means those services see your IP, as they would on any site that uses them: the fonts (Google Fonts) and the map images (OpenStreetMap).

What you send us

When you suggest a profile, we keep the @ you suggested and nothing about who suggested it. When you suggest an edit to an event, we keep the text as you wrote it, for someone on our team to read — so it’s no place for a phone number, an email or any other personal details: we don’t need them to fix the date of a party.

Event content

Event images and text belong to the public profiles that posted them; we index what’s been publicly announced, always with a link to the original post. Any venue or promoter that would rather not be listed here can just message us on Instagram and we’ll take it down.

In the apps

The iPhone and Android apps follow the same rules as the site — no sign-up, no login, no tracking — and they don’t even count visits. What this page says about your IP and about what you send us applies to them too, with three differences:

The events and searches you save stay on your device only. The app creates no code and doesn’t tell the server what you saved; uninstall it and they’re gone too.

Reminders and change alerts for a saved event are handled by your device itself: every so often the app downloads the public listings and compares them, on your end, with what you saved. There’s no notification sign-up and no server that knows what you’re following.

To sort by distance, the app uses your location just like the site does: the math happens on your device and no coordinates are sent. The map comes from Apple Maps on iPhone and OpenStreetMap on Android, which see your IP like in any app that shows a map.

Who runs this site

This site and the apps are run by Saviski, the Brazilian company responsible for handling the data described on this page.

Your rights

In practice, the only data that exists about you is that anonymous list of saved events — and you can erase it yourself, in your own browser. For anything else about your data (we go by the LGPD, Brazil’s data protection law): bc@algo.legal.
